3 BLIND MICE - April 26, 2017

Greetings Sun Hills Ladies,

This week we did have league play!  However there were just 11 ladies braving the cold and wind.  And, to make my job easier, they were all 18 hole players!!  Thanks!  We had Mike and Daniel draw the Blind Mice for the competition.  They were holes 3, 6, 7, 12, 13, & 17.  You ladies who placed this week may want to thank them!

Congrats to you brave souls!

GUTTS - April 19, 2017

Hello Sun Hills Ladies!

Here it is the 3rd week of the 2017 season.  We are happy to see ladies come out and play and enjoy the fair weather.  We only had 27 ladies who had the GUTTS to  play this week. LOL!  The weather was cool but nice.  There were 12 who played 9 holes and 15 who played 18.  We had 2 flights and paid 3 places in the 9 hole group.  There were 2 flights and 4 places paid in the 18 hole group.

This coming week has a foreboding forecast, so if it's raining, please call to check if we are having league play.  And grab your friends who have signed up but not played yet!  We miss them!!

Here are our GUTTSY winners!  Congrats!

PRO's TIP OF THE MONTH

New Rule Changes:

Image result for teacher clipartThe USGA recently changed a rule which has caused a lot of controversy on the putting green over the past year. The old rule stated that if your ball or ball marker was moved during the act of marking your ball or during the stroke or set up the player was deemed to have caused it to move and was penalized one stroke and the ball was to be replaced before the next stroke.  Now the rule states that there is no penalty if the player’s ball or ball marker is accidentally moved by the player. The ball is simply replaced and you play on without penalty. (In the case where the ball on a putting green moves due to natural causes; wind, water or gravity, you must play the ball from where it has moved to, without penalty.)

This new rule will be a “Local Rule” until it can be changed in the official USGA/R&A meeting in 2020.

So don’t worry if you accidentally move your ball or ball marker while placing or replacing your ball on the green.  Nor if you drop a glove or hat on your ball while marking it, or bumping it inadvertently while addressing it before the stroke!!

TOSS 1 PAR 3 & 1 PAR 4/SIDE - April 12, 2017

Greetings Ladies!

Week 2 is in the books!  Imagine that!  Still going with a slow start - only 32 ladies played.  But, hey, this is just the beginning.  We did get 2 new members!  Welcome Jacquie and Jolene!  We love having you!

This week we had 20 ladies play 9 and only 12 play 18.  This gave us pause when we were dividing up the purse.  We knew we were going to run into small things along the way and this is the first.  After some discussion we determined the best was to divide the purse was by person.

We knew we would be paying more 9 hole places because there were more ladies playing there.  So as you can see, with dividing the money by number of players in each group, we were able to pay 4 places in 2 flights for that group.  Alternately, we only paid 2 places in 2 flights for the 18 hole group.  PHEW!  If anyone has any questions about how we did this, please contact Dodie for help.

Now then...here are the winners for this week.  Congrats to you all!  And, thanks for supporting Sun Hills Ladies!!

RINGER

Greetings!

We had the Ringer envelope and sign up sheet out for those of you who want to participate in the Ringer.  It will be at the desk when you check in for the next month.

Ladies who played 18 holes, already have a full ringer scores to start changing.  I hope to have the book out for Wednesday.  This year it will be divided by 18 hole players and 9 hole players.  So which ever option you chose your name will be there.

If you can any questions regarding the Ringer, please email me or comment on this post.

LOW GROSS - April 5, 2017

Greeting Ladies!  Remarkably  Mother Nature didn't mess too much with our first week of league play.  A bit cool and breezy, but nice enough for 29 ladies to come out and play.

Our veteran ladies might notice that we have some ties that we did't do scorecard playoffs with.  We started to doing the scorecard playoffs when we were giving gift cards and couldn't buy cards for under $5.  Now, that we are successfully into our 3rd year with a nice pro shop, we are going to pay all ties like we used to.   This way everyone can get paid for their success.

We'd like to congratulate the winners for our opening week!  You go girls!!!

HANDICAP REPORT

Hi Ladies!

The Handicap Report that was posted this week had some incorrect handicaps.  UGA sets an arbitrary cap on handicaps but we set the cap to fit the needs of our league.  It has now been reset to our cap and the handicaps have been corrected.  A new sheet will be posted.  The flighting for this week's POD will be calculated off the correct handicaps.

Thanks to the ladies who brought this to our attention!
