Greetings sun Hills Ladies!
The Closing Social is coming up on October 3. There will be a sign-up sheet on our table. Please sign-up no later than September 26 so we can have an accurate count for dinner.
Social time will be from 5:00 to 5:30. We will have dinner and our business meeting after. The business meeting will include passing out awards, Ringer payouts, elections and other business as needed.
Remember, this year there will be an actual election of officers, so we are asking you to talk among yourselves and see who will be willing to step forward and run for office. This is your chance to take Sun Hills Ladies to greater heights. If you have questions regarding the duties of these positions, please talk to us. We'll answer any questions you have.

BOARD VACANCIES
Sun Hills Ladies,
As you know, this will be the last year that Dodie will be the Tournament Chair and Judi will be the Treasurer. After 15 years we have decided to retire and just come out and play golf and support the league.
This is an opportunity for you ladies to get on the Board for Sun Hills Ladies and support the league.
If you have ideas for changes or a new direction you would like to see the league move to this is a great opportunity to get involved! If you have questions about the positions and future direction of the league, you can talk to me, Judi, Karen or Mike.
We really hope there are some ladies out there who would like to jump in and get involved!

The month of August is now history! Again, we had a very light turnout - only 22 ladies came out to enjoy a beautiful day. We want to thank those who came out to enjoy the day! Congrats to all the nutty winners!
We want to give a big shout out to DEE ANN SCHOFIELD for scoring a HOLE IN ONE on #13! That's so awesome!!! Way to go DEE ANN!!!

We only had 22 ladies play this week. I think that can be blamed on a terribly mean outburst from Mother Nature in the afternoon. The TROUBLE was in a mixture of everything this week. Hats off and congrats to the winners!!

CHICAGO PUTTS - August 15, 2018
Greetings Sun Hills Ladies!
Now that the Club Championship is behind us, we still have 6 more weeks of golf a head of us. We only had 23 ladies play this past week - 15 9-Holers and 8 18-Holers. I was able to get a good handicap flight break for the 9 Hole group but for the 18 Hole group I had to use indices to find good break for those 8 ladies. There was some awesome putting - Congrats to the winners!!!

Our 2018 Club championship is now in the books. In spite of conditions there was some really good shooting. We have 2 new Champions for 2018!
BRANDI HAMADA is the Champion for the 9 Hole Division shooting an 84!
JAN KEIM is the 18 Hole division Champion shooting a 78 & 80 combined for 158!

Can you believe that we are in August already? WOW! We had the first week of the Club Championship for the 18 hole division along with the GUTTS play of the day. I must say that with this wretched heat and smoky air, it did take a lot of GUTTS to play this week.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
ANNOUNCEMENT
Everyone who needs rounds to be eligible to be champion have been contacted. REMEMBER: Even if you don't have the required rounds to be Champion YOU CAN STILL PLAY AND COMPETE FOR PRIZES.
The 18 hole group can play with any league members they choose on August 1st. The second week they will be paired according to how they scored the first week.
The 9 hole group can request pairings. We will do everything we can to honor those requests. If there is a problem you will be contacted.
IMPORTANT: If you signed up in the 18 hole group, you MUST play both weeks to qualify for prizes! If you're not sure, contact Dodie for clarification.
There is a sign-up sheet on our table. Please sign up by July 30th. Dinner will follow competition on the 8th and we need a count of participants.

BEAT THE PRO 41/78 - July 11, 2018
Greetings Sun Hills Ladies!
This week the POD was Beat the Pro. We had 32 ladies brave the sweltering temps to attempt this feat. We should thank Mike for his generosity by shooting a 41/78. Almost all of us were able to best or tie him this year - which is a first! So, we all just got our $4 in prize money! Here's what it looks like!

PAR BABY LOW NET - June 27, 2017
Greetings Sun Hills Ladies!
Thank you all for being so understanding about waiting for me to vacation before posting the winners for PAR BABY on June 27. There was a real light turnout for the day - only 21 ladies total. And just 6 of them were 18 holers. After discussing it with the Board, we decided just to make the POD a 9 hole event for that week.
It appeared that quite a few of you were not sure how to calculate the PAR BABY score, so if you have any questions regarding the winners, please let me know.
And the moment you've all been waiting for...

VACATION
Sun Hills Ladies!
I will be leaving for an 11 day vacation this coming Thursday morning. I am hoping to get Wednesday's POD winners posted before I go. However, we all know about those best laid plans. No matter what, I will get your Wednesday scores posted for the June 30 handicap update.
We don't have league play on the 4th of July and I will be back for the 11th. If I don't get the 28th winners calculated, please know that will be the first thing on my list when I return.

We had a light turnout for this week's ACES WILD POD. I think the State Four Ball Championship can be part of the reason. Greetings Sun Hills Ladies!
We had another fine week for Sun Hills Ladies golf! This week we had 36 ladies come out and enjoy the day. And, happily, there were just about the same amount of ladies playing 9 and 18! As you look at the results, you'll notice there isn't a Closest to the Hole winner listed on hole #6. The card blew away! When I played, Jan Keim was the only one on the card with about 10' from the hole. I sent an email to everyone to see if anyone beat Jan. If no one responds, I'll give the $10 to her. It is also worth noting...there were a few mathematical errors on the cards this week. So if you have any questions, email or comment on this post.

Hello Sun Hills Ladies!
May 31st is our Sun Hills 2-Women Best Ball Tournament. We would love to see a large representation from Sun Hills this year. We have a wonderful sponsor with Coates Electrical. For $70/person you will get 18 holes of golf, free range balls, a great tee prize, raffles, par 3 contests, lunch and darn good prize money.

Greetings Sun Hills Ladies!
We had 31 ladies come out to test their psychic powers this week in Crystal Ball With a Twist. Some hit the nail right on the head, but the "Twist" got them. In fact we had one lady who had a birdie turned into a par...😫 The "Twist" holes were 6 and 17.
The Ringer Book will be out this week. If you don't have a score in for you or only the opposite 9 that you are playing, don't enter anything...I will type them in for you and give you an updated sheet next week.

This past week we had about 13 ladies who were able to dodge the storms and get in a round of golf. Hats off to you! As you look at the posting, and you see that in the 18 hole group there were just 4 ladies paid $4 each. That's because there were only 4 ladies who played so they essentially got their money back. If you have any questions, give me a call. We had enough 9 hole ladies to do 2 flights.

SAD NEWS
It is with heavy heart that we inform you that Judi Tutorow's husband of 48 years passed away this past Sunday after a brave fight with cancer.
Sun Hills Ladies send our love and sincere condolences to Judi and her family during this difficult time. Steve's viewing will be Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary. His funeral service will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 at the same location. There will be viewing Friday morning at 9:30

WOW! What a great day for golf we had this week! And it showed on the scoring for 3 Blind Mice. We had the folks at Sun Hills choose our "Mice" for us and they were 3, 6, 9, 11, 16 & 18. We took your net score and subtracted the total of the "Mice" from that.
Thanks to the 37 ladies who came out and supported us this week. Congrats to the winners!

LOW GROSS - April 11, 2018
Hello Sun Hills Ladies!
The first week of competition is in the books! We had 33 ladies come out to take advantage of the lovely mild day. To get us started, we just had a straight Low Gross round. There was some darn good shooting!
Before the winners are revealed, there are just a couple of things that need mentioning...first, according to our By-Laws, during league play there MUST be at least 2 league members in your group in order for the round to be valid. Lady guests are welcome but we always need 2 league members.
Second, for the ladies who are in the process of establishing handicaps, I am calculating a temporary handicap for flighting purposes. This temporary handicap is based on rounds played during league play. I encourage you to play and record casual rounds of golf in order to establish your handicap as soon as possible. You need 5 - 18 hole rounds or 10 - 9 hole rounds. Even if you just play 9 holes outside of league play, record it. You will get your handicap faster!

Greetings Sun Hills Ladies!
What a FUN Opening Social Icebreaker we had! We were able to golf and meet members of our league that we ordinarily would not have been able to with having the luxury of golfing throughout the day. We hope you all enjoy our welcome to 2018 gift. The purple blankets came in handy for some of us towards the end of the night.
We would like to thank Ralph for the delicious soups, homemade rolls and tasty strawberry shortcake. The perfect meal for a chilly evening.
We would like to welcome Brandi Hamada, Britney Krage, Kris Dietrich, Darlene Dickerson and Carolyn Roberts to our league! We are happy you chose to join Sun Hills Ladies! We LOVE getting new members!
Also, we want to welcome Kay Macfarlane back to the league. She had to take a few years off due to health issues, but now she's back and ready to go!

2018 REGISTRATION
Greetings Sun Hills Ladies!
It's that time of year again...time to dust off the golf clubs and get back into the SWING of things!
At the Closing Social last year we voted to have an Ice Breaker Scramble for our Opening Social this year since we did our business meeting in October.
The Opening Social Ice Breaker Scramble is scheduled for Wednesday April 4, 2018. We will have a shotgun start at 5:00. We will play 9 holes and have dinner after. There will be a REALLY nice door prize for everyone!
I have sent everyone an email with the Registration Form in 2 formats - PDF or JPEG. We would really appreciate you getting your registration sent in as soon as possible so we can let Sun Hills know how many will be playing and to get a count for dinner. March 28th is the cut-off date. If you have friends that would like to give SHLGA a try, please send them this email so they can be with us on the opening day of the 2018 season.
Please be sure to indicate on your registration whether you want to be in the 9 hole group or 18 hole group. This indication will let us know which group you will be playing in for the Club Championship.
Remember, at the Closing Social we voted to keep the Club Championship eligibility rounds at 50% of all played Plays of the Day before the Championship. This means that we will have to play 8 PODs this year. The Ice Breaker will count as one of our rounds, so please come and play and get to know the ladies on your league.

UGA RENEWAL TIME
Hey Sun Hills Ladies!
It's time to renew your UGA card. You should have received an email from UGA with instructions, but if you haven't you can login to UGA.ORG and click on the green join or renew box on the top right of the homepage and do it there. If you have trouble, you can call UGA directly and they can help you. 801.563.0400
It's really important that you get your renewal done ASAP. We are changing programs for handicap and tournament tracking and if you allow your membership to expire, we won't be able to easily add you to the new program.
