Club Championship

 Congratulations to all who played and to the winners!!!

Before I announce our winners,  I just want to say that I missed getting together with everyone for the club championship this year!  It just wasn't the same.  And I've heard that lots of you felt the same way.  We will discuss this and other topics at the closing social!  I would really like to get back to having at least three get togethers and meals with the entire league next season!  Golfing, friendship, fun, celebrating,  and eating!! Let's do more of that!

Without further ado ... 

Congratulations to our 2023 club champions! 

For the 18-hole league,  our Gross Club Champ in Jan Keim, and our Net Club Champ is Judy Tutorow!  

For our 9-hole league, our Gross Club Champ is Angie Cragun, and our Net Club Champ is Cindy Bright!

Way to go Ladies!  And congratulations to all of our other winners!!  

All of the winnings will be added to your accounts at the course!  Don't forget that any winnings from last year need to be spent by the end of October.  This year's winnings can be carried over to next year if you'd like.   Any special orders must be placed by the end of September.

news --Club Championship

 

Hi there ladies!

 

I apologize if this is news to any of you, but changes were discussed and made to the club championship tournament at the opening social .... and I forgot to send these changes out via email or have them posted to the blog for those of you who were unable to make the opening social.    Because of the price of food this year, we had to cut down our meal socials to two instead of three; it was voted on and the two meals will be the opening and closing socials.  In the past, we were getting deals on our meals, like $7 or $8 per plate.  Last year prices sky rocketed and this year they are even worse.  Prices were almost doubled for our opening social; much more than I had planned on spending.   So we voted at the opening social and it was decided that we would forgo the club championship dinner this year.  This was also changed because the 2 p.m. shotgun start for the tournament is no longer feasible for all of the ladies because it is just too darn hot at that time.   And moving the shotgun start to an earlier time would eliminate some of our working ladies.  fSooooo ... we are still having the tournament, it will just be a little different this year.  

 

Those players who signed up to be on the 18-hole league will play 36 holes of golf for the tournament.  Their first 18 holes will be played on Wednesday, August 23^rd and their second 18 holes will be played on the 30th.  For the second day of play, the 18 hole players will be repaired, according to how they played the first round.  On the 30th, we will have our 18-hole league players go out in assigned groups, with tee times starting at 9 a.m.  

 

For our 9-hole league players, they can either play nine holes on the 23^rd and nine holes on the 30^th or 18 holes on the 30th.   The nine-hole players will be allowed to play at any time of the day with whomever they'd like, both days.  

 

Winners will be decided and announced a few days after the tournament concludes.  Winnings will immediatly be added to the winners accounts at the course.  We will celebrate the winners at the closing social dinner.  

 

There will be sign up sheets and registration forms at the club house, on the ladies table, next week.  There is a $25 entrance fee for the tournament.  All entrance fees collected, plus extra money added from the ladies league will be paid out to our winners.  

 

Here is the most important information ... ALL MEMBERS OF THE SUN HILLS LADIES GOLF LEAGUE are invited and eligible to play in the club championship tournament.  Having said that, in order to be called  the "CLUB CHAMPION" you must have played at least five times during league play this season.  It's usually a little higher than that, but we had a very late start this season, due to snow, and a few weeks were limited or cancelled due to weather.   But regardless how many times you have played this season, you are still invited to play in the club championship tournament and you are still eligible to win money, which will be added to your winnings account.  So please sign up to play and let's have a great tournament!

 

We will see how this plays out this year and discuss it at the closing social.  At that time, if we feel like changes should be made, we will vote on it at that time.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Be Helpful to to others in your group---  Follow the flight of  the tee shot, not just your own.. Help others look for their ball if you know the location of your own. Help fill a divot or rake a bunker for another player.

 Helpful hints-- When sharing a cart, use   a buddy system

Dont wait in the cart while your cartmate hits and then drive to your ball. Get out and walk to your ball with a few clubs. BE ready to play when its is your turn and then let your cartmate pick  you up. Or drive to your ball after you drop your cartmate off and then pick them up after you hit the ball.

Hi there ladies!  

I hope you have all had a nice winter.  But if you are anything like me ... enough is enough!  I'm ready for sunshine and golf!

With all the snow that we still have on the ground, it's hard to believe that our league is scheduled to start in about six weeks!

But it is that time!  Yay!!!  I hope you are all planning on joining us again this year!  

The opening social is scheduled for Wednesday, April 5^th , and the first day of league play will be the following week, on April 12th.  

The league registration form is attached to this email.  I have included it in both PDF and JPEG format to ensure that everyone has

access to it.  If you have any questions, please contact me.   Please fill out the registration form and return it to me no later than

March 27th.
